Finally, at least one soul has understood the reason why I replaced the tagboard with the 'comment' option. I didn't like thrash talking. I preferred people talking about the post above anything else. [Unless urgent and in the event of no other means] It's not long ago that I blogged about gaining mass. And the only thing that I've been doing as promised is the consumption of eggs and chicken. [Mum refused the beef la. We hindus mah. So I gotta sneek it in. Am thinking of ways. And there's no way in planet earth I'll be allowed to bring pork into my house]
I logged on to blogger this morning and waiting for me was a comment left by one, Shantini. A good piece of advice. And unfortunately, unknowingly, I have been consuming egg yolks like nobody's business. So I shall replace my intake of 6 eggs to 3 now. Even that, just the white alone. No yolks. And looks like I have to dust the weights in my room off once again. It was bought a long time back when I was inspired to gain some 6 pacs. Now it's all to gain mass. I is at it right away. And I'll leave you with her comments. Straight to the point and very effective. And effective comments are what I need. Thank you whoever you are. Much appreciated. Adios.

Hey there,
You don't know me, but I just stumbled in here & noticed u posted something on gaining mass. You're on the wrong track with 6 eggs (cholesterol; unless you consume ONLY the white. but still, SIX eggs is just OVERKILL), on the right track with your choice of meat, and most importantly, all of this WILL NOT WORK if you do not lift weights (and increase them as you go along). Increase your protein intake before & after your workouts; they help repair tissue damage which is inevitable & necessary for muscle/mass gain. Protein without pumping iron is useless. YOU mUST INCREASE THE WEIGHTS ONCE U CAN LIFT THEm ON THE LAST REP WITHOUT FEELING LIKE YA GONNA BUST A VEIN IN YOUR HEAD. If it starts to get too easy, up it. Push the limits. I get a high from it!
Yeah, I'm a chick, but I think I know what I'm talking about since this 'regime' helped me put on 7kg in 2 mths (with occasional protein shake - musashi brand & I gymmed twice to 3 times a week). It would be heaps easier for you given you're male and it's generally easier for guys to build muscle.
GOOD LUCK!!! :)
PS> Friends recommend GNC 100% Whey Protein. (But I think it tastes foul! And protein bars taste the worst)
I'm back and really glad you found my advice helpful. I've long been a skinny ass girl & was just tired of not fitting well into my clothes. I'm the only girl I know who visits the gym to put ON weight. (And the only girl whose upper arms are admired by my best friend's (admittedly) pudgy boyfriend! LOL)
BODY FAT RATIO I'm blessed my body fat ratio is about 10% (and I can eat 6 bars of butter right before I go to bed and STILL not put on weight), but my BMI was only at the threshold of 'ideal'. I wanted more meat on my bones, but also wanted to maintain my body fat ratio. Gym was the only way to go to put on HEALTHY weight (and get fitter/stronger), so I hooked myself up with a trainer at the gym & he told me what to do. So half of anything I tell you comes from him, a quarter from my pumping iron bf and the other from some useful websites, like this one, which I think you will find helpful since it does not try to push you weight-gain products: http://www.skinnyguy.net/
Remember, follow advice that only sounds sensible to you (there's alot of extreme crap out there). And study the human body. It all comes down to a science.
THE GYM & OUR CONFIDENCE Also, if you've never lifted weights before, it might be good to sign up to one for just a month (I know it's expensive), but just to learn HOW to lift them. I know there's an inexpensive gym in Yio Chu Kang, somewhere. My bf tells me he's got lots of skinny guy friends who want to gain mass but are too shy or intimidated to visit the gym coz of their size. It's a shame, really. I'm a 1.57m girl, and I visit my work gym which is always crawling with buff security personnel (and a good portion of them are Caucasian). I'm usually the only chick in the weights section but I just block out these buff dudes lifting 100kg weight up, coz I'm working out for ME. These buff guys MUST HAVE started out small too; surely they didn't get big overnight. I have heaps of respect for fat or skinny people who actually get off their asses to MAKE A CHANGE and DO something about their situation. I would never laugh or tease them, and my bf tells me (as a quite buff person himself who started off thin) he feels the same as I do. The gym was not built with perfect bodies in mind!!
LIFTING WEIGHTS THE RIGHT WAY Anyway, ideally, it's best to gym with a mate so he can 'spot' you, i.e monitor your method of lifting. You can get some serious injury if you do not lift it properly, or, you may not even be working out the muscle like you think you are. I've popped my elbow once, and it got jammed while I was doing a benchpress. I was alone and whimpering my ass off. Not a pretty picture. But staff at the gym can show you the ropes first, if u dont have anyone to go with you.
CHALLENGE YOUR BODY Remember to progressively overload through high intensity weight training because muscles adapt and grow larger and stronger by being continuously challenged. For instance, a 10kg dumbbell - you do bicep curls - 15 repetitions (reps) and you do 2 sets of these, with 2 min rest in between. If you successfully pull through all 15 reps on the 1st set (without feeling like you're gonna die on the 15th rep (termed 'train to failure'), then you rest and continue with the 2nd set of 15 reps, and you also manage to pull this off, then YOU MUST INCREASE THE WEIGHT OF THE DUMBBELL. You must not be able to duplicate or outperform what you did on the 1st set. It is not about frequency (eg. no of bicep curls), but intensity (how heavy each curl is). My body bump instructor (a professional body builder) picks me out in the class & yells at me to stack on another weight when she sees I'm not struggling enough, and I'd be like WTF man, but it's totally worth it.
BODY TYPE & GENETICS Hmmm. What else. Oh, given our genetics and our body type, we LOSE the muscle quite easily too (which is a real bitch) if we stop following the lifestyle. And please don't neglect lifting weights for the legs, especially the calves. Alot of guys neglect this area and end up with a buff torso sitting on bamboo pole legs. I use 60-80lbs on my calves, which seems like hella alot, but the calves NEED alot to make a difference. Guys can definitely do more than I can.
STRETCHES OHHH. And the most important of all - never underestimate the power of a stretch!! Stretching not only helps lengthen the muscle that's about to be worked on, but will save you from TONS OF PAIN (trust me), post-workout. There are days I wake up convinced I cannot walk again, because I rushed through my weights without stretching.
I'M NO BUTCH By now, I'm sure you've realised I love to talk about this. You're right. Probably one of the few girls who do. But no, I'm no butch. Really. I love tits n' ass n' hips n' long hair.
EAT ALOT Eat loads. Sometimes I'm too lazy to get food, but you MUST MUST MUST! Your lifestyle is changing now, so you need the extra calories.
I am so excited for you, coz I know how my body changed once I gymmed. Get your mom to take a picture of you now without a shirt on, hands on your hips, take all your measurements. Every month you do this.
YAY! Good Luck Praba!! Save the link I gave you on your favourites.
Au revoir! Will be checking back in every once in awhile to read on your progress :) And don't stop soccer, it's great cardio.
